Down With Girlism!

Me: Why doesn't anybody get interested when I talk about math and music?
Dad: You should be talking about boys.

Can't wait from my daddy's girl weekend, though!

Missed the Game

I did the volleyball game. Now, I'm not one to brag, but I'm the only one who managed an ace, and I scored half the points...everybody is scared of the ball for some reason. We still lost to the Texas School for the Deaf. I don't mean to sounds sore or mean at them, but they couldn't hear the whistle and they still beat us. Yeesh.

Mom came late (of course) , so she didn't get to see me do anything. I cry over the stupidest things.

Sunday, August 28, 2005

Oh my god.

Who knew? Even I was slightly doubting myself when I left for Camp Casey this morning - I had tried to convince myself that I could get an interview with Cindy Sheehan, but I knew it wouldn't work.

Here's the story. I got there, hung around, one of my friends from last week got married at Camp Casey 1, and I tried to get to Cindy. I found out that Cindy was gone, so I hung out at Camp 2 waiting for her. I called the PR person to see if I could get an interview (she wasn't the most helpful, but she tried), and she said she would try.

Before I even saw Cindy, another person came out -- the man who plays the president in the West Wing. I caught two pictures of him, and that was that. Back to that later.

Cindy came out, and everybody was treating her like a rock star, and I tried to catch her attention. They went through a catholic service to honor 20 fallen soldiers, which was beautiful whether I'm Jewish or not.

When Cindy left the stage, I caught her attention for long enough for her to grasp my hand. I was disappointed, to say the least, and continued to follow her. She and whatshisname Sheen went and did a prayer over Casey Sheehan's cross (I have a picture -- I'll post it later). I got pictures of them praying - I followed closely enough to get right in front of everybody for photos - and I'll publish them later.

Then, I grasped Cindy's hand yet again, and continued to follow her. Everybody else followed Sheen. I took the opportunity to march right up to her and ask one question - What message would you like to send to teens nationwide?

Her answer? I'll tell you as soon as I get the clip. But she gave me a good 20 seconds of her time on that question.

Then, my dad had us go down to the peace house for the last time to get dinner. He had actually cooked the pasta, garlic bread, and sauce. We walked into the kitchen, and who should we find but Sheen?!?! Eating my dad's dinner! I got three videos of him - in the first one (I'll post later), he speaks about how women have greatly contributed to the war. In the second I just set the camera randomly. And in the third, he says hello to Ben (Goodman)! I knew that you liked him. Haha.

All in all, this trip was BEYOND successful.

I hate gambling.

So my sister is someplace (my mom says she sold her), and my parents decided that everybody was going to have a Texas Hold 'em game/tournament/whatever. I didn't want to - I wanted to play a nice, civilized game of scrabble. But they made me play, and I was fooling 'round the whole time until dad banished me. I don't mean to sound...whatever, but I was sorta glad he did.

Wow!

Love this building -- the architecture is amazing and I hope to see this some day.

Dog

this is an audio post - click to play

^An audio post with my rantings about the dog Aryeh wants to get...

Neena

Neena (the director of admissions and outreach at our school) says that if Kinky Friedman accepts an interview, I can do it! In other words, a new thing for BSR. Woohoo! Also, I'm going to try to get information about how I can get an audio interview with Cindy Sheehan! Ben says that would be something even Daily KOS can't get, but who knows? I would so love to be able to do both.

Also, I'm not sick any more! Yay! Those sniffles really got me. Oh, I've signed up for the Audio blogging, so now I can blog from my cell phone after 9:00 PM and on weekends (in other words, with Cindy!). So, I won't be able to blog on the spot.

Yay!

America Stands with Cindy

Huh...

I just took the 'tickle' IQ test online...it's not very good...but I got an alright score. Here's what it said:

Congratulations, Rachel!Your IQ score is 133

Good for me.

Sick

I fell sick yesterday, and nothing's changed. So, I'm staying home from school today. It's actually peaceful, even if I am sick.

Oh, but I'm not allowed on this computer, and the other one was shipped back to the school district. So, I guess I won't be on much.

-R

P.S. I made a new blog for the holocaust research paper we were assigned yesterday. It'll have updates and stuff. It would be wonderful if you could help me out with it...the website is here.

ROAR!

So, there's this irritating, violent, (beeotchy) new girl that moved in across the street, and she would not LEAVE ME ALONE. So, I said I was taking a nap. Then I instructed everybody to tell her I was asleep and not to let her in...and I went to my good friend Katie's house...so I'm mean. But she didn't catch me...

Meh

Is it possible that I'm actually jealous of Sarah and Anna? Or, I suppose, Sarah, Rachel, Zach, Isaac, and Noah? Those are the ones who are always together, laughing together, hanging together, and they know everything about each other.

On the other hand, I'm quite happy with my family, thank you very much.

Camp Casey

To those who don't know, I'm going to Camp Casey tomorrow. I'll be there all day, and I'll be a-bringing my bike so I can tell you whether to use a car. Actually, it might be part of my protest -- we don't need oil, why go to war? NO REASON, that's why.

I'll give an 'update' on Camp Casey from there maybe because who knows if some insaneo bought internet up there? Or I'll find out about mobile blogging. So I'll blog from there.

Have a nice time while I'm gone :-P!!!

-R

Hmm...

I seem to have developed the urge to grab my brother by the neck and shake. HARD.

Graphing Calculators

I hate being in a class with rich kids. That way, I can't use the excuse "Zach's parents bought him a TI89 without any trouble!" on the fact that I'm going to be borrowing a TI83, which isn't fair because I'm already way worse at math than the rest.

Jake hates me. He's a right wing nut job.

Dakota (the short, high-voiced irritation): You really need to wax your eyebrows...

She's so stupid, and she knows it...ha ha.

Paradigm Shift?

It seems to me that there has been a massive paradigm shift in the war -- there's Cindy Sheehan, which has sparked enormous interest, plus her calls for impeachment. According to Air America Radio, perhaps Bush has actually gone insane. I don't know why it is so sudden, but it's there.

And on a happier note, Jacob likes my journalism...-beams-

Oh, please disregard the old link to politics on the sidebar, I mixed it up. I'll change that in a second.

Math

I hate math. God do I hate math. I'm so bad at math.

So, apparently I'm the only on in the class who doesn't get a graphing calculator -- I suppose that's the price of being in a high-class school. I wish other people had a little less money, and don't tell me not to ill-wish.

Plus, dad doesn't know how to use the math that I use. ROAR! It is so annoying, and mom is clueless anyway.

Listening to Air America at Midnight

God, I love Mike Molloy. The only thing about him is that he named his name Molly. Think; Molly Molloy. Poor girl.

Anyway, yeah. Bye

Tuesday, August 16, 2005

Well...

So, I suppose today was alright. Aaron and I are going to go for co-ed volleyball (they're completely sexist - only girls allowed) and I (think) I found my lunch seat with Aaron, Jared, Jake, and the new twins, whose names I've already forgotten. We have a nice big group for lunch so you can pick who you want to sit with.

Brother needs to figure out computers. He's installed four spywares on this computer alone in a month...and I have to uninstall it. It's just annoying.

Well, you're on AIM, I'm on AIM, talk to you on AIM...

School Day

School is the best! We have a special half day schedule, or as Ms Silver puts it, a half day sdule. Because it's a half day. Hehe.

I already have homework with uncle chashew from the evil class of death which consists of only Zach, Noah, Isaac, and Dor. Rachel S left because she's off to the high school that I'm -hopefully- getting into.

Ms Johnson is having us journal every day. Blech.

Ms Silver is funny.

I suppose the half day sdule is sort of like a pound cake: even split of four parts - an hour of Judaics, an hour of English, an hour of Science, an hour of math.

Well, I'll talk to everybody -- I'm pooped.

Oh, yeah...I'll be protesting in Crawford next weekend. Yay.

School Day!

Well, today's the first day of school.

And I don't mind.

It's sort of odd; I used to scream in the morning as loud as I possibly could. But now I just sorta get up and face the inevitable. Which is school. It doesn't matter if I get up and say I'm not going and then go back to bed.

Problem: I didn't do my summer homework...x_x help meee!!!

But, in the long run, I suppose what's Ms Johnson going to do...punish me?

Or Ms. Silver; that's who I have. I sure like her, also. Aryeh said yesterday that she was too good of a teacher to be vice principal, which I think is so sweet--I e-mailed her. Hope REA doesn't mind.

---------------------------------------------------

Ever since I got back from Olympia, (okay, it was two days ago) I have really liked being with my sister! It's very weird - I suppose it's from being with Leo so much. But she really isn't so bad.

Dang, mom wants for me to print out my homework. I hope she doesn't check it for having two projects done x_x. The chaos of school is setting back in.

It's a Lion.

Ari's animation. Yay, yay. It was easy, thank you Lawrence for giving him a short name. Oh, I think I'll do Sydney and Jennifer and Sarah and Rachel and Anna...yay. By the way...it's a lion. So don't ask.

Heck. I'll do the other ones tomorrow. Bed for me. 'Nightynight.

Aaron's Animation

Whenever I think of Aaron, I think about noses. And then I think about hair...it's sort of weird, actually. Hm.
By the way, if anybody wants to see the actual size of the animations (the size that I made them), just click on them. Backspace brings you back, to you computeritalically challenged...

Solomon

Hey, this is Solomon's. Now WILL you shorten your name? It took forever...-grumbles-

Adjusting is the worst, though. I had to adjust it so that it wouldn't have a blank in the middle of the thing. The cartoon guy is something I made up on the plane: his name is Eggbob and he has a friend named Mandy (who has a pet named Sandy) and he has a pet named Anni who is a snoose (a mix between a snake and a moose).

Saturday, August 13, 2005

Darn/Yay

Well. It's settled - I am not going to the protest, and I am going to D&D. It's good to get a break; school starts tomorrow and I just got home (on an insanely delayed flight. Roar.). Sorry, Ben (G), I would have caught ahold of the woman who started it and given her your greetings, but I don't think I'm up to a car trip and protesting all day...

On the bright side, I think I can make cookies. Joy. That way I won't owe Aaron anything.

Pretty animation, right? I also made you one, Jacob...and I'll make one for Ari and Sollyman and Aaron. I suppose I'm a bored soul. (And salty)

Jacob. You seem family guy-yey. And B said that you liked it. So don't blame me. I actually think that little baby that's taking over the world...Stewie, is it? Well. He's cute. I mean, he's like the parakeet beaky that's taking over the world...

I'll a-post the other animations soon.

Protests

Well, so much for D&D. I thought it all out; I think the protest is more important...no offense to any peoplisms.

So, tomorrow I'll be in Crawford. Hope it's not too exciting - unless the excitement is Sir Idiot coming out and apologizing and taking back all of his little co-conspirator's plots. Which isn't likely. I wonder if Madame Idiot is also there...RAH!

Yeah. I'm so sorry, I sure hope you guys reschedule...-goes to livejournal to tell all-

Home!

Finally - and I mean finally I'm home. It was an awful flight; I started on Alaska Air to Los Angeles from SeaTac, and then I took two buses to get to the right terminal so I could get onto my plane home. After waiting for the plane to push off for about an hour, they announced that they would not be able to fix the plane, and it might take a while. Luckily, it only took them another hour to find us a nice plane that actually worked; plus Makala in 5th grade was there, and her mom is ubernice.

I'm hungry. I'm always hungry.

D&D tomorrow! Mom wanted to take me to Crawford to join the protest against the war, but I don't think that it would be right for me. I think I'm less of a protestor - even though I'd love to see his stupid face sticking outside, confused. Stupid man.

Leo

Leo is my little 5-year old cousin. He's actually not a bad kid. Inside. Someplace. But sometimes that cute little kid comes out and he's a good guy.

Today we went blackberry picking and he was nice and gentle, and he didn't shove me into the prickly bushes, which I suppose is a very good thing. Then, we went to (and still are at) gramma's house to pick flowers for his big sister Rosie who is in Annie tonight.

The best quote from Leo ever is: "Daddy, I have brains. My brains are in my eyes--- They have ribs."

Speaking of Leo's daddy, he just got a score of 140 on bop it extreme 2. He's very funny: he's a philisophical guy, but he's decided to write about bopit-Fu. Because he considers it an extreme sport, and way of life - bop it. He says, "you have to have no destractions (spelling?) and become one with the bop-it. How do you spell bopit anyway? Bop-it?

Gotta get back to Leo's game, I've corrupted his mind with computer. But he's so darn cute chewing on dried bananas...

Songs

Perhaps I'm not the best singer, and perhaps I can't dance, but I do like a good song and a leap to tide me over.

Best Bushism EVER!

I found the BEST bushism. It's my new signature on my e-mail actually, I got the idea of a quote from Ben...

"If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator." --George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., Dec. 19, 2000

New E-mail Service

Well, dad was nice enough to switch e-mail services without telling me, so I lose all my contacts. Isn't that great. I don't remember Ben (my cousin)'s, and of course I can't remember Shani's, and all of my old e-mails are gone. Roar.

School starts in less than a week, and I'm looking forward to it for some reason. It'll give me something to do even if it cuts short my visit to Olympia. I have been having a good time here, for sure, no matter how forgetful my gumma can be, and no matter how many times she asks, "So, what grade are you going into?" At least she's nice, and she remembers most things. Like my name. Ha, ha. She even remembers my birthday!

I have made two discoveries. Actually, three. One: Soy ice cream is better than dairy ice cream. Two: You can put plain cocoa onto vanilla ice cream, and you have good chocolate ice cream. Three: My second cousin, was pen pals with J.K. Rowling! His name was Zach, he was my good cousin Josh's little brother. He died three years after Josh's dad did. His dad died when Josh was 10 and his brother when he was 13. I didn't get to meet Zach, but you'd never guess there was any tragedy in the family if you met Josh. He's so funny, even if he abandoned us this summer so he could be a counselor at a summer camp in Georgia.

I just think that's cool. We've got a connection to J.K. Rowling. Yay for us.

My grandma has the funniest card that we gave her two days after my bat mitzvah (that is her birthday). It says, "Hipy papy bthuthdth thuthda bthuthdy." Can anybody translate that? I have no idea what it means. But it's funny. I guess.

I get Ms Silver for homeroom next year again! Isn't that wonderful? I love her, and she favors 8th grade. Bwahahahaha. I shall take over the school!

Ben, did your brother skip over to the math class that I'm in? He's always seemed extreme in math. And I mean extreme. And in science. It's kinda scary, actually. I just figure, anybody that good at math shouldn't have to take it at this school. Whatever. I'll still win treasurer. He still has another year to do it. But I don't.

Could somebody outline the 'talk' Ms Silver gives to the new 8th graders? I'm sure there is one. I just don't know what it is. Is it boring? Should I fall sick?

My parents and siblings are sick. I just missed it; they got it two days after I left. Oh, I'll be back Saturday and I probably won't be able to squeeze in emergency D&D. But I have missed everybody. What's the status on Jennifer's return? Please?

Gumma is being so funny! She is sleeping, but every ten minutes or so she gets up, says "that was a nice sleep" and goes back to sleep again. It's cute. She's so nice! And she's so beautiful. I love her like mad. She lets me play with her wrinkles!

Miles finally left, after his dad was yelled at by my mom's sister about how he should get counseling because he doesn't know how to raise a family.

In all happiness, I get to see my cousin Rosie in Annie! I love that musical.

Can't wait to see everybody!

-R

PS - this is a bad keyboards. if spacings and spellings are off, it's because of the keyboard, not me. Meh.

In Washington

Hey, all.

I'm in Washington now, and I've gotten to see everybody including the luck of getting to see my great-uncle Howard! I really love him, he's funny. But I only got to see him for two hours or so.

My cousin Rosie is WONDERFUL and I love her!!! We're having such fun, and spent a gajillion dollars on junk, plus I got my gifts for everybody, and I didn't forget anybody this time.

G'ma is fun, much different than gramma Renia. She's so funny!

Miles is ANNOYING to DEATH. He's obsessed with wrestling, cars, tattoos and macho stuff like that. He wants two tattoos and five piercings, and a creepy macho hairstyle. That just bugs me beyond being bugged. It's sooo annoying!

I went to the farmer's market and bought Rosie a cookie, and I'll probably buy daddy a big huge onion. Or maybe the 3X heat salsa they're selling. All for dad; he likes stuff like that. My aunt Liza's band played, they're called Red Brown and the TuneWranglers. They're really funny, they play country music and 'Lize is good as ever on her fiddle. She has my great grandpa's old one, I would love to have it.

Leo likes to hit me, so I avoid him as much as I can. Gina is sweet, but when she's 'round Leo she is a killing machine. Ahh! Run!

Mile's and Gina's little sister Emme, who is 2, finally figured out who I am with my short hair cut, and she's gone back to her sweetly pathetic 'errachewgo?' whenever I'm not in the room. She is so cute, I want to EAT her!

Gamma (my new name for g'ma Ruby) is the only adult that will let us use her computer. Nobody trusts me with theirs no matter what my 'credentials' are, even if they aren't really credentials. Still. Gamma's so much fun, and she didn't yell when Ro and I ate an entire package of gummibears ourselves and feeds us what she can, except she's *cough* VEGAN so she has NOTHING to eat in her house. She even has sugar that hasn't been finished with it's processing! I suppose that's how everybody should live, but I'm not up to it. Plus, I have a Jewish mama! I can't just stop eating the way gamma does!

I've been sleeping in later than I have for months, but it's sad it'll all have to come to an end in 'round 9 days. We have a half day on the first day of school which is on a monday of all weird days, so I'll probably have to get a ride home or maybe go over to Sarah's or something. Or maybe I can be dropped off at home by Jared or Jake or Shauna, whose sister just graduated, leaving me in a math class of *tear* boys. And not normal, nice boys. Isaac, Dor, Zach, and Noah. Help meeee!

Ro is in Annie, the play, and I get to see her! She's so wonderful at singing. I wish I could the way she can. She has a broadway voice. She's one of the orphans; the girl who plays Annie I met at the farmer's market. She is EIGHT years old and has bright red hair. It's a funny coincidence, actually.

My aunt Kitty went to follow Liza's band on their worldwide tour of three states. Wow! I'm a jinx, but at least I get to see them one more time before I go home.

I don't get to see Ro's buddies, they're all in New York and they get to see Wicked. I'm so jealous!

Ben! You're probably home by now; REPLY! How was the trip...where is my egg roll? How's the family? Are you all still in one piece? Did you eat enough? Is it pretty there? Polluted? Did you get a movie contract or something and you'll never come to Austin again? WELL???

I'll be home in 'round a week.

Talk to everybody 'round!

-Rachel

Gosh. Long Night...

Good lord. Last night I was up until 4 o'clock in the morning after having the neverending AIM conversation with Jacob.

I haven't figured out how to make a cut on blogger, but some day I'll figure it out and post the whole conversation. It was weird - it went from happy to sad to happy and all over the place. In one conversation. We actually ended up accusing each other of having different phobias (here). Then I went to bed, and I suppose Jacob did after. I sure hope he did. AH!!! My friends are zombies!!!

Oh, I found the funniest movie! Jared actually sent it to me first, after I blocked him a few times.

Rah! I just got a call from a credit card company. All people who work there are sleezes; they know all the tricks. I've decided that if they can't pronounce my last name then I have the right to just say 'wrong number', but they apparently know that trick. Roar. I shall prevail against the evil companies!

Anyway, I shall go eat ice cream and start up my laundry; I'm going to Olympia tomorrow morning!

Websites

http://www.cnn.com
Sad, sad, sad.

http://www.seeyageorge.com/
Yes, yes, YES!

Pet Peeves

I made these...enjoy!

No offense to you boys and men out there; if you're reading this I hereby dub you a woman.

Ice Cream and Little Boys

Hello to the world!

I know, it's my second post today. I can just keep on posting...and posting...and posting...

Anyway, I added some more little pixel drawings, and my favorites are the chickens which look like this: Aren't they cute? Yes, they are. They look better on the site, which you can find here. I also have mongooses (mongeese?), a rabbit, horses, and pigs. And the people. The angel people were Jacob's idea, not mine. Dad says it looks like they have shoulder pads on.

My mom's friend Anitra came over, and I promised to do her work website for her which should be fun to make. I'm also off to Olympia pretty much tomorrow! Oh, I'm soooo excited, and I can't wait to see everybody!

Anitra has three boys, Billy, Benjamin, and Brian. Benjamin and Brian are autistic twins who are doing pretty well, actually. They are 6 and they're learning how to speak pretty well; they already could speak to one another in a language nobody else could understand, which is interesting.

Public school kids (no offense to any of you) scare me half to death. I don't know why; they just seem to be socially superior, and I can't match that. They know how to dress, talk, and act, and they know what's right and how to make friends. I may have quite a few friends, but most of them are either 5 or 16. And the rest of them I have known since preschool or kindergarten, not including Daniel Hurwitz who came into the class in the middle of this year, but he's a good kid.

Well, enjoy the site, and I'm not sure that I'll be able to blog when I'm in Olympia. I'll be having too much fun.

Best!

-Rachel

Twins

So, yesterday I swear I was up till 3 AM, but I wasn't on the computer. I was enjoying being able to read clearly without having to go over it a few times. Of course, I read the completely wrong book. It's called Twins, by Margaret Cooney. She actually wrote The Girl on the Milk Carton as well, and that was a wonderful story. But Twins, it was something else. It was about a girl who loves her sister, but when her sister dies she takes her place in life because she thinks that her sister (Madrigal)'s life is so much better. Then she finds out that her sister was a psychopath.

Not the best middle-of-the-night book. I had to escort the book downstairs so nobody could hurt me. Ha! I don't know why I care so much.

I feel like making a pound cake, but I don't know if we have enough eggs. It's called a pound cake (for those of you who don't know) because there is an even pound each of butter, eggs, sugar, and flour. Yummy! But I think a bit of vanilla would make it better, and maybe even some milk.

Jacob will never forgive me for switching to blogger! I'm sorry. For heaven's sakes, this actually is better. It has a better format.

I'm off to see what 'Joy of Cooking' has to say about pound cakes.

Oh, and I added a gajillion awesome backgrounds! And I made one for my mommy, oh how sweet. It looks like this picture next door (I think) and it's really funny. This way, mom will have to buy me new reading glasses that actually fit right.

New Blog, everybody!

Hey, everybody. It's Rachel, I made a new blog for a new school year! I know you probably don't have an account on here, but I wanted to give a google tool a try (because google is the best), so this is my LAST SCHOOL YEAR'S blog! ...I promised myself I wouldn't cry...

Anyway, this one's public, so nothing extreme will be here. Sorry. I might use my old livejournal for that.

As of today, I have quit neopets for good! I self-froze my account because I thought that I was spending way too long on it. And I was, anyway. That was why I was on the computer all day.

I sent my teachers the idea for the school newspaper, but apparently they were already planning on doing a student newspaper! Oh, well. I still would love to be the editor; it's my dream job (of course, that is subject to change any hour at a time).

I got reading glasses today, too. They should help me read faster. They aren't very nice, but I got them at the dollar store, so mom says that she'll buy me a new pair for later if I still don't like them.

I also got new running shoes! They're men's, but that's what all of my shoes are in. And they aren't as big as I thought they would be; they're 9 1/2 men's. Maybe I can join the new track team this year! Mom says that my legs give me an unfair advantage. Oh, well - I've never been in an organized sport and it will look great on my application to Westwood IB.

Plus, I was going to go for student council treasurer. Ben, tell your brother to watch his back.

I'm off to Olympia, Washington in three days to visit my cousin Rosie (she'll be on broadway some day), her brother Leo, her mom Nancy, her dad Steve, my aunt Kitty, her partner Liza, my uncle Andy, my cousins Miles, Gina, and Emme, their mom Valerie, and my grandma Ruby. I can't wait! But my mom is jealouse. Which I don't want for her to be.

Do any people know of a website where I can volunteer to make websites for non profit organizations? I want to use my HTML skills for something good.

Talk to everybody on AIM!

-Rachel
